The AK UW100 is a pair of true wireless earphones that pairs a Knowles balanced armature driver with an AKM AK4332ECB 32-bit DAC. The DAC is a separate component instead of the one built into the Bluetooth chipset. Noise is reduced by the shape of the earbuds (passive noise isolation) rather than by active cancelling. Tapping the left earbud switches on an ambient mode, which has four levels.
Bluetooth runs on a Qualcomm QCC5141 chipset with Bluetooth 5.2 and supports SBC, AAC and aptX Adaptive. aptX Adaptive varies its bit rate and handles 24-bit audio at up to 420 kbps. Multi-pairing and Multi-Point connection to two devices are supported, along with Qualcomm True Wireless Stereo Plus on compatible phones. Each earbud has two microphones, and Alango voice processing is used for calls.
Control is by capacitive touch, with a triple tap on the left earbud for the phone's voice assistant. A companion app for Android and iOS sets touch controls, ambient levels and EQ, and firmware updates over the air. The earbuds play for 6 hours per charge, 24 hours in total with the case. The case charges over USB-C or wirelessly, and a 10-minute fast charge gives about an hour of playback.
