The unit is a bi-amplified, 150 W digital-amp speaker with two woofers and two tweeters in a sealed enclosure. It plays MP3, AAC, WMA, OGG, FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF and MQA files at 32–192 kHz and 16–24 bit, and runs the BluOS operating system with 17+ music service integrations. Voice control works through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and AirPlay 2 is built in.
Setup and control go through the BluOS Controller app on iOS, Android, Windows or macOS, where presets, alarms and listening preferences are set. Several Bluesound players can be grouped for synchronised multi-room playback, and two of these speakers can be paired as a left/right stereo set. An optional RC1 remote is available, and the speaker can learn IR commands. Control-system integrations include Crestron, Control4, RTI, ELAN, URC, Lutron and iPort.
For connections it offers dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD in both transmit and receive directions, a combined Toslink/3.5 mm optical/analog input, a USB Type A input and a 3.5 mm headphone output. It is supplied in black or white.
