The 802 D5 is a three-way vented-box tower speaker in the 800 Series Diamond line. A 25 mm Diamond dome tweeter sits in a solid-body Tweeter-on-Top housing, a 150 mm Continuum cone FST midrange is mounted in a decoupled Turbine Head, and two 200 mm Aerofoil bass drivers work in a reverse-wrap cabinet. The tweeter's break-up frequency is pushed to 70 kHz, and the speaker is rated for a frequency response of 17 Hz to 28 kHz (±3 dB).
The cabinet is built from a single continuous curve fixed to a solid aluminium spine, which is meant to reduce cabinet reflections. Internally it uses an upgraded Matrix design, aluminium Space Frame bracing and an aluminium top section. Other listed technologies include an Anti-Resonance plug, Biomimetic Suspension, Aerofoil base cones and Flowport.
The speaker is a passive design with an 8 Ω nominal impedance (minimum 3.3 Ω) and 90 dB sensitivity. It is driven by an external amplifier rated for 50 W to 500 W into 8 Ω. It comes in four cabinet finishes with matching Leather by Connolly trim, and sells as a pair.
