The Prime 2 is a self-contained two-channel DJ system built around a 7-inch multitouch display. A multi-core processor runs Engine OS, which handles library browsing, search, track loading and waveform display directly on the unit, so no laptop is required.
Music can come from USB drives, an SD card or a 2.5-inch SATA drive installed in the unit, which also allows onboard recording. With Wi-Fi or a wired Ethernet connection, it can stream from Beatport LINK, Beatsource LINK, SoundCloud GO+ and TIDAL, and can reach a personal Dropbox library. Each deck has a 6-inch capacitive-touch jog wheel with a colour display and eight performance pads for hot cues, loops, rolls and slicing.
The mixer section has two channels with 3-band EQ and filters, two mic inputs, timestretch and key shift, and works at 24-bit/44.1 kHz. Outputs include balanced XLR master and booth, unbalanced RCA master, and both 1/4-inch and 1/8-inch headphone jacks. A USB port connects to a computer.
