The Master4 is a moving iron phono cartridge in Grado's Timbre Series, built in an American Osage wood body with a machined boron cantilever and nude elliptical diamond. It comes in high-output, low-output and mono builds for turntable owners.

Master4 is a wood body moving iron cartridge from Grado's Timbre Series. It uses Joseph Grado's flux-bridger principle, which keeps the coils fixed and the moving mass very low. The stylus is a nude elliptical diamond on a machined boron cantilever.
The internal signal path uses 6N OCC copper. Each cartridge is cryogenically treated and internally damped to reduce resonance. The Osage wood housing is reshaped so the cantilever is easier to see during setup, which helps alignment and fits a wide range of tonearms.
It is made in high-output and low-output stereo versions, plus mono versions of each, so it can be matched to different phono stages. The specified input load is 10k-47k ohms and the response is not sensitive to capacitive load. Owners of other Grado wood body cartridges can ask the maker about an upgrade program with adjusted pricing.
