The Shield is a large-diaphragm electrostatic condenser microphone from iCON's Space Series, with a cardioid pattern and 48 V phantom power. It targets vocals, acoustic instruments, amplifiers and broadcast or podcast work.

The Shield is a pressure-gradient condenser microphone built around a hand-built large-diaphragm capsule, with a 34 mm active diaphragm diameter. Its cardioid pattern favours the source in front of the capsule and helps with separation and feedback rejection. The capsule is shock-mounted to reduce handling noise and vibration. The tonal character is described as neutral and transparent, with extended upper clarity and a smooth mid-range.
The body is die-cast metal. The circuit uses Wima polystyrene and film capacitors and Fairchild NOS transistors. Rated sensitivity is 33 mV/Pa into 1000 Ω, maximum SPL for 0.5% THD is 138 dB, and equivalent noise level is 8 dB-A. It is suited to vocals, acoustic instruments, guitar amplifiers and broadcasting or podcasting, either as a main or support microphone.
The microphone connects through a 3-pin male XLR output and needs external +48 V phantom power with a current draw of 5 mA or less. A suspension shock mount and a magnetic slip-on pop filter are supplied, together with an aluminum carry case.
