The 4TRAK controls four software decks and includes an independent four-channel mixer. Each channel has an input selector to switch between a Traktor deck and an external source. Line inputs are on every channel, and two channels switch to phono and two to microphone, so turntables, CD players, mics and MP3 players can be mixed with library tracks.
A 12-knob FX control section provides two effect decks, FX1 and FX2, each with three assignable controls and time-division controls for matching effects to a track's BPM. Each channel also has a detented filter knob. The touch-sensitive illuminated platters offer 3600 ticks of resolution per rotation with automatic sensitivity adjustment, and a Strip Search touch strip on each deck lets you jump to any point in a track, with LED indicators showing position. Library navigation works without a mouse, and the unit offers pitch control, looping, hot cues and beat grid controls.
The unit connects to a computer by USB and has a built-in 24-bit audio interface with balanced XLR outputs. It uses 14-bit MIDI, so it also works with a wide range of MIDI software. The chassis is solid metal.
