The PMC 8-2 is an active three-way nearfield reference monitor with ATL bass loading and built-in DSP, intended for professional studio monitoring. It can be paired with the PMC 8-2 SUB to form an XBD system with extra bass headroom.

The 8-2 uses two 200mm (8") bass drivers, a 55mm (2") soft-dome mid-range and a 27mm (1") soft-dome tweeter. Four Class-D amplifier channels of 400W each drive them. The cabinet uses an Advanced Transmission Line with an effective length of 3m, together with Laminair vents. Frequency response is 25Hz to 25kHz (-3dB), with a maximum continuous SPL of 113dB at 1m and a peak SPL of 125dB at 1m.
A DSP section handles crossover, driver protection, EQ and delay. Adjustments include level trim, a high-pass filter, delay, polarity, LF and HF shelving filters, a 5-band parametric EQ and three user presets plus factory defaults. Settings can be changed from the rear panel or through the browser-based SoundAlign interface, which runs from a built-in web server over Ethernet. Latency is 2.4mS.
The XLR input switches between analogue and AES3 digital (16/24-bit, 18-192kHz), and an XLR AES3 output passes the digital signal on. An expansion card slot is provided for future connectivity upgrades. Adding the 8-2 SUB creates an XBD system with up to 6dB of extra headroom. Optional floor stands are available for both the 8-2 and the 8-2 XBD.
