Z-3

The Z-3 is a three-way floor-standing loudspeaker in Quad's Z Series ribbon range. It combines a 90x12mm true ribbon treble unit with a 150mm glass fibre midrange driver and two 175mm glass fibre bass drivers, in a bass reflex cabinet of 34 litres. Crossover points are 450Hz and 3.6kHz.

The ribbon tweeter uses a sandwich construction intended to make it more robust and able to handle higher power than a conventional ribbon design. The speaker is rated at 89dB sensitivity with a 6Ω nominal impedance, dipping to a minimum of 3.8Ω, and is recommended for use with amplifiers delivering 60-250W. Quoted frequency response is 50Hz-20kHz (±3dB), with bass extension to 45Hz at -6dB.

The cabinet is curved and finished in piano lacquer, offered in black, white and rosewood. Connection is by conventional speaker cable from an external amplifier. A brochure and a manual are available as downloads.
