EXTC 500

The EXTC 500 is a single-slot module for 500 series racks that acts as an interface between pro audio gear and guitar effects pedals. It takes the balanced line-level output of a recording interface or console and converts it to a high-impedance, instrument-level signal suited to pedals. The pedal output is then returned to the module, which raises it back to balanced line level for the interface input.
Separate send and receive level controls let the signal level be set for each side of the path. The module uses a class-A buffer and transformer isolation, which is intended to remove hum and buzz caused by ground loops. A phase flip function and a blend control for mixing the processed and dry signal are described in the maker's use cases and artist comments.
Typical uses include reamping a recorded track through a pedalboard, adding distortion or modulation to a vocal or other instrument while mixing, and running a direct guitar or bass signal through pedals before a direct box.
