The PZ-Deluxe is a floor preamp for acoustic instruments that fits between the instrument and the PA or a stage amp. It has a low-noise front end intended to work with different pickup types, including piezo transducers, magnetic pickups and active onboard systems, on instruments such as acoustic guitar, upright bass, mandolin, violin and banjo.
Tone is shaped with EQ controls, while a low-cut filter and a 180° polarity reverse switch help deal with feedback. A dedicated PZB gain stage raises the input impedance to 10 megohms for piezo pickups, so the instrument can be plugged in directly without a separate preamp. Internal 15V operation gives more headroom than typical 9V pedals. Footswitches provide a boost for solos and a mute for instrument changes or silent tuning.
The instrument connects to a 1/4-inch mono input. A built-in Radial direct box supplies a balanced XLR output for the mixing desk and can drive cable runs over 100 metres (300 ft). Further outputs send the signal to a stage amp and a tuner.
