The RP1 is a belt-driven turntable built around a minimalist layout. Speed is changed by hand rather than by an automatic mechanism, which avoids speed inconsistencies and reduces wear on the drive belt. It uses a hand-assembled RB101 tonearm, a precision main bearing, a phenolic resin platter that acts as a flywheel, and a low-vibration motor.
Set-up is designed to take under thirty seconds, and the deck ships with a carbon moving magnet cartridge already fitted. The RP1 was the first model in the newer Rega RP turntable generation, which also includes the RP3, RP6, RP8, RP10 and RP78.
A Performance Pack upgrade can be bought factory fitted or added later as an aftermarket pack. It is supplied as standard on the Union Flag Edition. Other listed companion items are a 24v upgrade kit, the TT-PSU power supply, the Brio-R amplifier, RS1 and RS3 loudspeakers and a turntable wall bracket. Instruction manuals are provided in English and French.
