The HD 200 PRO is a closed-back, around-ear monitoring headphone intended for recording, silent practice, mixing and casual listening. The closed design reduces ambient noise so the wearer can concentrate on the task at hand, and soft ear cushions are meant to keep it comfortable during long sessions at a keyboard, laptop or mixing console.
Sound comes from Sennheiser's own transducers, described as giving stereo reproduction with a punchy bass. Impedance is 32 ohms, frequency response spans 20–20,000 Hz and total harmonic distortion is below 0.1%. The ear pads can be replaced; a pair is listed as a spare part.
Connection is by a 2.0 m single-sided cable. A 6.3 mm (1/4") stereo jack adaptor is supplied, so the headphones can be used with both 3.5 mm style and 1/4" outputs on audio interfaces, instruments and consoles. The headphones weigh 441 g.
