The PocketStudio 5 is a compact four-track recorder that stores audio on Compact Flash media. Alongside the four audio tracks for vocals, guitars and other instruments, it has an internal synthesizer module that plays back MIDI sequence files, so backing parts can run together with recorded audio. It ships with 100 song styles that can be rearranged into original arrangements, and more than 100 built-in effects are available for vocals, guitars and other sources.
Editing tools include automated punch-in/out, track bouncing, and copy/paste of audio and MIDI by bars and beats. A finished mix can be rendered to MP3, and the unit can also play back MP3 audio files. A card holds up to 9 songs.
A USB port links the recorder to Mac and Windows computers for moving mixes across. It runs on AA alkaline batteries for about two hours or from the supplied AC power supply. A built-in condenser microphone and a headset microphone are included, as is a 32MB Compact Flash card.
