The ATH-R70x is an open-back, over-ear dynamic headphone built for professional monitoring and mixing. It uses a 45 mm driver designed specifically for open-back use, with a high-flux magnet and pure-iron magnetic circuit. A carbon-fibre-reinforced resin housing adds rigidity, and a honeycomb aluminium punched mesh is used to give a more natural, spacious presentation.
Comfort is addressed with breathable ear pads, a 3D wing-support headband and a body weight of about 210 g without the cable. The 3.0 m cable detaches at either earcup through a bayonet-lock connector that is not left/right specific. A 6.3 mm standard plug is supplied with a 3.5 mm mini adaptation, both gold-plated stereo.
Impedance is 470 ohms, intended for connection to professional and studio equipment. Some sources may not reach adequate volume. A carrying pouch is included, and replacement ear pads (HP-R70x) and cables are sold separately. The model is listed as discontinued.
