The concept V2 is the aluminium-bodied model in Clearaudio's MM V2 cartridge series. Other cartridges in the series use hand-polished ebony bodies, while this one uses a resonance-optimised aluminium body. It carries an elliptical diamond on an aluminium cantilever, and its moving mass is kept low.
The moving-magnet cartridges are measured several times across four stages, analysed and hand-selected. This is meant to keep the two stereo channels closely matched and phase and transient distortion low. The nominal output is about 3.3 mV at 1 kHz and 5 cm/s, with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The recommended tracking force is 2.2 g ± 0.3 g.
The cartridge connects to a turntable's tonearm through the headshell and to a phono stage designed for moving-magnet input. The recommended load is 47 kΩ with 100 pF capacitance. The series is described as working well with all common tonearms. The cartridge weighs 8.4 g.
