The KEY9 is a mono digital pedal that processes the signal from a guitar or keyboard and replaces it with emulations of classic electric pianos. Nine presets cover several Rhodes and Wurlitzer variations, along with vibes, mallets, an organ and steel drums. It builds on the design of the maker's B9 and C9 organ pedals and completes that series.
A preset knob selects the sound, while DRY and KEYS volume knobs set the balance between the untreated instrument and the emulated voice. Two control knobs adjust parameters specific to each preset, and several presets offer adjustable modulation such as tremolo, phaser and chorus. Tracking is described as fast, and the pedal can be combined with the B9 and C9 in a keyboard-style rig.
The pedal has a single input, an effect output carrying the mixed signal and a separate dry output carrying the unprocessed input. A footswitch toggles between effect and bypass, with a buffered bypass. A 9.6VDC power adapter is supplied.
