Usta

Usta stores sequences in a hierarchy of 16 stages per pattern, 16 patterns per track and four tracks per project. Each track provides two CV and two gate streams that share one stage duration, giving eight CVs and eight gates in total. Every stage has its own push encoder, ringed by 16 LEDs and an RGB LED, arranged in an oval with a circular playhead.

Stage values can be played as notes or as unquantized voltages with 1 mV resolution. Each track can be quantized to a root and scale, with up to four user scales and alternative octave divisions of 15, 19, 22 and 24 tones. Tracks can run their own clock division, multiplication or speed, or follow an external clock, which allows polyrhythms and multitempo setups. Stage colors add glide, legato-style slides, ratcheting and skipped values, while swing, stage loops, song mode and a composition mode cover structure and editing.

Two CV inputs can modulate several targets across the tracks, including pitch, gate, stage, variation range, root, phase and pattern. Variation controls add random changes that can be saved into a new pattern. Connections are 8 CV outputs, 8 gate outputs, 2 CV inputs and 2 gate inputs.
