The XGen is a small desktop audio interface built around a single combo XLR/line input with a high-gain mic preamp (up to 65dB). Conversion runs at up to 24-bit/192kHz, with a 114dB A-weighted dynamic range on both the ADC and DAC. Control is limited to two knobs, one for mic gain and one for output volume, so there are no menus to navigate.
Monitoring and outputs include two balanced 6.35mm TRS line outputs and two separate headphone jacks, one 6.35mm and one 3.5mm, so a second person can listen without a splitter. The headphone outputs deliver up to 100mW at 64Ω (6.35mm) and 51mW at 64Ω (3.5mm).
It connects over USB Type-C (USB 2.0) and uses the maker's UNI OTG technology for plug-and-play use with phones, tablets and computers. A separate USB-C port accepts a 5V external power supply; a 5V/2A supply is recommended for best sound quality. It works with macOS, Windows and iOS/iPadOS, and ships with a USB Type-C cable.
