The MSP 231 is a compact capture unit that takes an HDMI signal and presents it to a computer over USB 3.0. It works as a plug-and-play device without driver installation and is recognised by common capture and streaming software such as AMCap, OBS, XSplit and Livestream Studio. It runs on Linux, Windows and Mac systems.
The unit captures a single video channel, detecting the input signal and adjusting the output automatically. Supported input goes up to YUV420 3840x2160@60 at 8-bit, and YCbCr422 1920x1080@60 at 10-bit and 12-bit. Audio can be mixed linearly and sent to an audio output.
An HDMI input and an HDMI loop output let the captured source also feed a stage screen, so recording can run in step with what the audience sees. The USB 3.0 port carries the video to the computer and also supplies power to the device.
