DA-78HR
The DA-78HR is a modular 8-track, 24-bit DTRS tape recorder that records to Hi8 tape. It suits studios and post-production rigs that want tape-based multitrack recording with built-in synchronization, and it is discontinued.

The DA-78HR records eight tracks of 24-bit audio to Hi8 tape in the DTRS format. Its A/D and D/A converters are 24-bit throughout, and it can also read and write 16-bit DTRS tapes made on earlier machines such as the DA-38, DA-88 and DA-98. A 120 Hi8 tape gives 108 minutes of recording time.
Synchronization is built in. The recorder can chase or generate SMPTE time code, generate MIDI Time Code and respond to MIDI Machine Control commands. Up to 16 DTRS machines of any generation can be linked for sample-accurate playback of up to 128 tracks, and the optional RC-828 remote can control up to four machines individually. Other functions include two locate points, track slip, ±6% varispeed and a built-in 8-channel digital mixer.
Analog connections are balanced DB25 and unbalanced RCA. Digital connections are TDIF for eight channels and S/PDIF for two channels, with word sync input, output and thru for clocking.
